Finally...cheetah!!

I have been watching a few live cams for the past year and I had yet to see a cheetah. Tonight my friends was a gooooooooooood drive for me! Not only did Jan and Alex find ONE cheetah.....TWO!!! How exciting!!!

Not only did I see the cheetah, I got to share that experience with some of the forum rats whom I have been getting to know over the past week! I have quickly become one myself! lol

Anyhow...thank you so very much to Jan, Alex and Marco for the incredible drive!

Elephants

Well I think that Pieter's love of elephants has inherently rubbed off on me. I had been fascinated before but since watching the drives over the past few months, I seem to have elephantitus LOL *ba dum dum chhhh* Yes always the comedian.

I think it all started in grade 5. My teacher had gone to Africa on vacation and brought us all back a hand carved figure of an African animal. Mine happened to be an elephant. Over the years I have… Continue

Joining the WE team!

It is great to be here and part of this awesome team at Wild Earth and part of the WE community. I really appreciate all the emails from around the world welcoming me onboard. Coming from a bush background, it is just like coming home, and the welcome I have received from my fellow WE colleagues has made it an absolute pleasure settling in here. Jan has been a great help giving me the low down on the FCC and technical details of the WE operation and Alex getting me filled in with the camera… Continue

The reality of life and death...

The sight is mesmerizing... the reality of life and death. The prey lay still and warm, its life.... over. The struggle between predator and prey plays out in a raw, graphic drama that holds my gaze and makes me stare in stunned silence. I am in awe of the scene so intense and violent. My heart beats faster as I watch the lioness consume the animal piece by piece, tearing at the flesh and gnawing on bone. The power of the hunt, the struggle of… Continue

New Beginnings

So the glorious sun rises... its glowing radiance creeps over the land like a golden mist, touching everything and illuminating it. The sounds of the morning are quiet at first. As the sun marks a path into the sky, all the birds burst forth with a sound that rings through the savanah. Each one calling and singing as if the sun were its mate and they the true love. Clouds hanging low and misty are pushed aside by the suns rays like the parting of the… Continue
