Hi Paula--we are neighbors and I really appreciate your efforts locally for our wildlife. My grandson, who lives back east (where I am originally from) always asks us to give our hello to Nigel. Love your photographs!

First off, Paula, thank you for the 'friendship' acceptance!

To get into the chat room, just run your mouse pointer over the top menu bar at the top of this page to WEshows then click on Chat Room. Don't ask me why it's arranged that way(!), but I guess each has his own sense of logic...

If I may give you a tip, go ahead and spend the few minutes to register at Chatango - it will save you lots of time and the aggravation of getting kicked off (some sort of time limit for those who haven't signed up) in the long run! Just click on Chatango's e-address under the heading, WEchat. Also, that way you can not only stay signed in, but you can control the size, style and color of the script you might prefer to use when chatting.

No, I have never been to any part of Africa. My husband, in his work at Michigan State University, has traveled to several African countries but, until WildEarth, I had no desire to go! The distance is daunting, but we are giving our selves some time to get there....overnight in Amsterdam, then overnight in Johannesburg before flying to Hoedspruit. You and I are practically neighbors. I am in East Lansing, Michigan and I think that I have heard Marc say that you are in Minnesota.

The Mystery of Discipline

Self-discipline is often estimated as an important component to be effective - be it research or profession or personal life. The traditional concept of discipline seems to be deceiving. It is often recognized as something that is associated with a set of firm guidelines, worry, power, exterior management and penalties. The misconception is probably a impact of the unnecessary attempt of most
