About Me:
I have been a WildEarth fanatic since September 2008 when I was so fortunate to have discovered WE and the WE community.

In my real life, I work as an administrator at a university. On the side, I am the Executive Director for a local community theater group, and have also acted in several plays there since getting back into theater after a long hiatus.

I love to travel. The Peace Corps took me halfway around the world to Thailand in the early 1980's where I taught English as a Foreign Language for 2 years. Also lived in Japan for a year teaching English. Being in that part of the world afforded me the opportunity to visit other countries in Asia including People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Burma (Myanmar), Malaysia and Singapore. My favorite trip since then was a week on Caye Caulker in Belize. Magical! One day I hope to add Africa to my list of continents I have visited.

Looking forward to a wild 2009!

Thanks Patti-
I'mnot too sure I like the new format yet... so much has changed and doesn't work but if I know the WE Team they'll be on it and have it working in no time. Pete Bratt doesn't let anything get past him. I will write you back in a couple of weeks once they work out all the kinks in the system. Thanks for answering my question.
Regards- Ginny

Hi there Patti! Good to see you here. Since I joined Face Book I don't come here as often as I should. Thanks for inviting me to join your circle of friends.

Thank you for the kind welcome Patti. Your site is just full of such interesting things! Have watched Djuma for a couple of weeks now and joined chat last week (jeada7). Love seeing all the animals and meeting all the different folks who have been so warm and friendly. I'm just learning my way around facebook however - hopefully I'll get better as time goes on. Love your sunsets!!!

Thank you, Patti. That's exactly the response I was looking for! If I can elicit through sight and sound that specific emotion, then I feel I have won the game! Although I didn't follow Lady Grey's ( that's my name for her) situation as closely as I would have wanted, I still had difficulty getting this one put together, not necessarily because of the techs involved, but because this ellie stirred memories of my buddy, Wonky. The emotions started welling up, and I found myself having to take more breaks than usual. Eventually, I plugged through, and put it together. Amazingly, it worked for me on the first try, which is highly unusual. And there you have it! TA DA!!!!

Thank you, Patti! It's good to hear from you. There are many, many beautiful sunrises and sunsets out there, and they are happening all the time, so I have a feeling that this isn't going to be the last sun-type video out of this gate! It's hunting for the appropriate music - it almost has to be biblical in style. Anyway, look for more down the road! See ya!

Thank you Patti for the nice note.... I believe half the fun and joy on/at WildEarth is sharing, caring, and enjoying together everything we as friends and WildEarth have in common as well as not-so-common. Life is Beautiful - Mike and The Kids

ILP in the USA

Along came Deb Weston.
We've been hoping to find someone to help with our social networking in the USA for a while, then along came Deb Weston.
Deb has been a supporter of the ILP for quite a while and came over to meet the team in Africa a few weeks ago. I'm pleased to announce that Deb has graciously offered to assist with social networking and fund raising for the ILP in the USA. So if you are in the USA, get in touch with Deb and let her know you are out there and care for the plight of wild leopards.

As most of you know, Kirsty Lynas has been working hard on social networking for the ILP in the UK ever since she finished her five month spell as a volunteer with us earlier this year.

Kirsty is continuing to work for us from the UK and co-ordinating with Deb who will cover the USA. Kirsty is also now managing the ILP membership scheme. All of those who have joined so far will be able to receive insider knowledge from Kirsty on a regular basis.

On that front, we need more folks to join the ILP membership scheme and soon, if we are to have any chance of saving the lives of Leopards. Sound dramatic? Well, a leopard was illegally shot this week and we were unable to prevent it.
That's one less leopard in the rapidly diminishing gene pool. If we all don't act soon there will be no leopards left in wild area's. That's no idle statement, our model shows a huge decline in the wild population. The genetic tipping point will come very soon, after which there will be no recovery. Please join the ILP membership scheme, we need your help.

ILP Membership Scheme

I want to walk into the office of the CEO of Mpumalanga Parks Board next week, armed with your support and confirm our help to prevent senseless killings of wild unfenced Leopards throughout the province.
Next year will be our ten year anniversary and the biggest yet for the ILP. Provincial authorities have no funds or people to tackle the issues at hand and have asked for our help. We must act now to conserve the dwindling leopard population. Time is slipping away, but we need funds to tackle the problems and mobilise a team. That is why we have put together a membership scheme. Please make a small donation (your choice, but please don't hold back), and become a member of the ILP. You'll receive regular updates from the front line of wildlife conservation and a voucher worth $380 which you can redeem against a 2010 Wildlife Safari with On Track Safaris.
Donations can be made by credit card via our UK Representatives Research Cam www.researchcam.com. All funds raised go to the ILP.

Thanks in advance
