Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
I grew up in the Bahamas and still have lots of family and friends there, however I now live in Canada with my husband, who is originally from the United States, and my two sons and our little dog Biscuit.

I appreciate the balance of land and sea and how delicate nature is and I have spent countless hours in the ocean, swimming with the fishes.

I guess what I like about WE the most is the honesty of the land, animals and the people. The bush is just that...filled with wild animals and I guess in some way reminds me of the ocean in that you never know what is around the next corner, or what the reaction of the animals will be when you suddenly appear before them. It's the interaction between man and beast and WE certainly delivers on each Drive.

I work in the medical field.
I used to own my a graphic arts company.
I once worked for a cosmetic company, one of the big 5.
I also used to work as a corporate account execuative for a major jewelry store, the one with the blue box...
I make jewelry. I am an excellent colourist. I also enjoy photography and take pictures of my finished pieces before selling them to friends.
I enjoy cooking and trying new food and discussing recipes and cooking techniques with fellow cooks.
I also enjoy live theatre more than movies even though I have been an "extra" in several movies and tv shows...just for the fun of it.

I hope you enjoy the link pasted below of a great choir singing Tot's "Africa".

Thanks, Lynn! Too much time went between Feathers I and II, so I hope IIere won't be as much time between II and III! Love those "fleas"! Used to watch them all the time at PP. As a matter of fact, that's all you would see there for quite a while!

BTW, I love your flamingos! I got some nice shots of same at the National Zoo last weekend. It's interesting that you would mention a separate video on birds. I did one a while back, called "Feathers", and I was thinking just the other day that it's about time that I do a sequel, "Feathers II". That will be my next project!

Hi Lynn,
In regards to how to with photos I am going to refer you to the Helper Lodge located under the Forum topic on top. In the helper lodge, there are several people that discuss different pic capturing versions they use:
http://wildearth.ning.com/forum/topic/show?id=2094372%3ATopic%3A28510&page=1#comments

I am on a mac, so I use different programs than most people. I use IGrabit which is a good pic program for the mac users. I then save them with Graphic Converter and if I want to lighten them I import them into IPhoto.

I hope that answered your questions...Patty

Hi Lynn,
thanks for the pic comment. I can't remember the name of the spider but it was building the web and the jigga stopped just in front of it and Pieter decided they would take the other road instead of disturbing the spider...Pieter is so sweet!

Bo turns up after three weeks

We had been quite concerned about Bo, who you may remember is a two year old male leopard who we are tracking via a GPS collar. We hadn't received any uploads from Bo's collar for three weeks and to say the least we were getting worried. However he has turned up alive and well and as you can see, he's been a busy boy. The collar stores data and uploads at set times if he is in cell phone range. Thankfully he has moved back into cell coverage. Our thanks to Lela and other ILP members who have been tracking Bo from their homes and keeping us updated. We don't always have a good Internet connection here in the bush, and rely on help from our friends. You can also join the ILP and help us track research animals.

Susan joins the ILP team

We have a new member of the ILP team. Susan Belling has joined us to help with our work in conservation. Susan is a qualified Game Ranger and has recently been leading overland Safaris through main land Africa. Susan wants to pout something back into conservation and has decided to work full time with the ILP. She has been training with Gerrie and Anton over the last weeks, investigating leopard issues on local farms and tracking leopards via telemetry. She is now joining Anton on her first Black Leopard investigation at the Dalton Trust in KZN. Where she will be putting her training into action under the supervision of head researcher Anton. If you would like to welcome Susan then you can become a fan by selecting the link below.
