About Me:
My name is Barbara Ellington and, like all of us here, I'm hooked on the game drives. Being in the eastern part of the US, the time zone & work make it difficult for me to watch during the week - but the weekends I'm there!
My emotion and compassion for all things nature grows - whether tears of joy or sorrow - I feel so privileged and blessed. The passion and learning continues!

Other interests include exotic animal webcams, working out and daydreaming.

Thanks, Barbara! Next to ellies, leopards, impala, kudu, nyala, zebra, buffalo, rhino, hippo, raffies, baboons, vervets, small antelope, the snakes, mongooses, a few hundred birds and insects, lions are my favorite! In other words, I love them ALL (except for a few insects)!

Thank you so much for your kind comment! I hope to keep this series going by making it a regular thing. I take my time producing them - I don't want to put out schlock just to make an imaginary deadline in my head! It wouldn't be fair to my WE friends, and it certainly wouldn't be fair to Pieter!

Hi ,.....Shailesh here from India working in the field of Conservation from last 8 years for NGO ---Pugmark Wildlife Foundation.
In India there are so many superstitions regarding with the snakes actually snakes are Holy Creature for Indians but some time snake intrudes human areas so humans killed them. There is smuggling & illegal business of snake poison & snake skin by poachers . So we are fighting for saving snakes from humans & running awareness projects on snake also. Tiger is the endangered species, we are concentrating now to save Tigers .
You can guide us & you can share your thoughts & experience & knowledge with us. So that many Activist, NGO, Students, can take inspirations from your efforts & activities

Bo turns up after three weeks

We had been quite concerned about Bo, who you may remember is a two year old male leopard who we are tracking via a GPS collar. We hadn't received any uploads from Bo's collar for three weeks and to say the least we were getting worried. However he has turned up alive and well and as you can see, he's been a busy boy. The collar stores data and uploads at set times if he is in cell phone range. Thankfully he has moved back into cell coverage. Our thanks to Lela and other ILP members who have been tracking Bo from their homes and keeping us updated. We don't always have a good Internet connection here in the bush, and rely on help from our friends. You can also join the ILP and help us track research animals.

Susan joins the ILP team

We have a new member of the ILP team. Susan Belling has joined us to help with our work in conservation. Susan is a qualified Game Ranger and has recently been leading overland Safaris through main land Africa. Susan wants to pout something back into conservation and has decided to work full time with the ILP. She has been training with Gerrie and Anton over the last weeks, investigating leopard issues on local farms and tracking leopards via telemetry. She is now joining Anton on her first Black Leopard investigation at the Dalton Trust in KZN. Where she will be putting her training into action under the supervision of head researcher Anton. If you would like to welcome Susan then you can become a fan by selecting the link below.
