Hi Lisa, thank you for letting me join this group! And also hi to all other group members.
I joined Wildearth.tv about ca. 2 weeks ago, and i'm already addicted to the live safari's and all WE is offering on it's website, ning, etc. I just found your group and decided to join as I'm very interested in wildlife issues, for instance conservation of threathened species.
Greetings, Marieke

Hey Sandra thanks for joining. ;)
the little "note" is to avoid the clashing of ideals. Clashes are counter productive to change and positive ideas and WE is all about the positives we can create all around us ;) Feel free to post any discussion you like!

Wonderful idea for a group. Thank you!!!! This quote of yours Lisa gave me the final okie dokie to join. It's the first thing I look for when joining groups I want to participate in. Thank you for mentioning it.

"Please this is not a place for radical animal rights activism"

Looking forward to meeting everyone here!! Sandra

On emotional relationships between humans and nonhumans, most of my best friends have been nonhumans. When I first worked up the courage to try coloring my ugly mousie brown hair with a bit of red, none of my human colleagues noticed. The first person to notice was my friend Tatu (a chimp) who stared at me, pointed at my hair and signed "Red there!" It was also Tatu who, when I admitted that I'd had a rotten morning, indicated a spot beside her for me to sit and signed, "Come hug. You good friend." When I dislocated my thumb in a martial arts bout, none of my human colleagues noticed my heavily bandaged hand. Loulis -- a chimp -- noticed and demanded that it be unwrapped for his inspection. After carefully examining the bruising, he kissed it gently and then indicated that I should put the bandages back on. He did this every day for three weeks. The only difference between them and others of my nonhuman friends was that they could use a human language to communicate more complex concepts than can be easily transmitted noverbally. Humans don't have any corner on the emotional bonding market. :-)

The Mystery of Discipline

Self-discipline is often estimated as an important component to be effective - be it research or profession or personal life. The traditional concept of discipline seems to be deceiving.
