Update 1722 CAT: Mechanic will arrive around 0700 CAT tomorrow morning. More news after that.

Hi all,

It's been a while since the last update ,but unfortunately we are still waiting for the mechanic to arrive. He might still get here today, but in all honestly I do think tomorrow is more likely.

So at this point WE can not really give you any more information than that WE are still waiting. When WE know more, rest assured we will let you know as soon as WE know more.

Thanks for the update. Holding thumbs for good news when he does get a look at the Jigga.
Thanks Peter.
I'm sure you all are totally frustrated. Hang in there. WE are still with you!
Well, Landies are known to break down often, but then agein, usaually it can be repaired. Just out of interest: what exactly is Jigga's desease? "Engine probs" doesn't sound good to me...
If it's the waterpump seal, I might have a piece of advise ;-)

Thanks Peter!
Thank you and thank you for the updates on the screen. It helps to know what is going on.
It's a good time for us to wander around the site ....read up on stuff we may have missed. I love to search the archives on days like this. Jika's down and we are having a thunderstorm, again.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
Love to all.

Thanks for the update. Good luck on speedy (and long-lasting) repairs.

I seem to have to dig for the announcements through a couple of other pages.

Would it be possible to add an "announcements" tab either above the WE screen or in the ning header for more direct access? Or am I missing something obvious and basic?

Aha - I stumbled onto the Announcement link in the pull-down under Forum. Not obvious. Not sure if this will post as an edit or a reply, since it wasn't clear how to edit one's post in the time allowed. I am clearly among the tech-challenged.

I miss the drive, and wish you all the best!
Danke Peter für die Information. Ich hoffe für Sie und natürlich für uns, die ganze WE-Familie, dass der Mechaniker morgen das Jigga reparieren kann und wir wieder mit Ihnen im Busch unterwegs sein können.
Thanks for the update. I hope things go well when the mechanic takes a look. WE are here when it's ready...warm regards to all the WE staff.

Bo turns up after three weeks

We had been quite concerned about Bo, who you may remember is a two year old male leopard who we are tracking via a GPS collar. We hadn't received any uploads from Bo's collar for three weeks and to say the least we were getting worried. However he has turned up alive and well and as you can see, he's been a busy boy. The collar stores data and uploads at set times if he is in cell phone range. Thankfully he has moved back into cell coverage. Our thanks to Lela and other ILP members who have been tracking Bo from their homes and keeping us updated. We don't always have a good Internet connection here in the bush, and rely on help from our friends. You can also join the ILP and help us track research animals.

Susan joins the ILP team

We have a new member of the ILP team. Susan Belling has joined us to help with our work in conservation. Susan is a qualified Game Ranger and has recently been leading overland Safaris through main land Africa. Susan wants to pout something back into conservation and has decided to work full time with the ILP. She has been training with Gerrie and Anton over the last weeks, investigating leopard issues on local farms and tracking leopards via telemetry. She is now joining Anton on her first Black Leopard investigation at the Dalton Trust in KZN. Where she will be putting her training into action under the supervision of head researcher Anton. If you would like to welcome Susan then you can become a fan by selecting the link below.
