Permalink Reply by Emjay on August 11, 2008 at 9:46 Interesting discussion! To add on to this, there seems to be a lot more to animal 'group' names than most people know and a lot of the names describe a (perceived) characteristic of the animals in the group. One of my fellow students at the recent Wilflife Film Acamdemy course I took, did her project on such collective nouns. Some examples are a 'float' of hippos, a 'rank' of impala, or more familiar ones like a 'cackle' of geese and a 'pride' of lions.
If you guys are interested I can ask her if she wants to join and teach us some more about this?

Sounds good to me! I always thought it was a "gaggle" of geese... no doubt got lost in pronunciation! :-D

I have an Excel document which I put together with all this information on it but how do I either put it in here or give anyone who wants it a copy?
