WildEarth.TV

it's in your nature

Many of you have questions that you would like answered. WE have a way for you to ask the presenters questions by emailing Final Control (finalcontrol@wildearth.tv) The director chooses which questions to ask and reads them to the presenter. However, sometimes the questions are a little difficult for the presenter to answer or they have nothing to do with what is happening on the screen. This is the place to ask those sorts of questions of the WildEarth management.

for all your flash feed problems. sorry but he posted this email in his reply and asked that you direct this kind of stuff there. also the feed out of south africa is still there so you can watch the drives until such time the flash feed improves for you.
here is the link.

http://www.entertainmentafrica.com/wildearth/pop_up.html

I have also found that clearing out my cache files everyday helps alot with the flash and freeze. I live in Toronto, Canada somedays its good and others its bad. Im just going to try and patiently wait as the improvements and changes move along. Meantime.....no need to leave Cupper - love your photos!

Lisa....

Thanks for your comments.....I forwarded an email to the above address...

Cleaning out my cache does nothing as I do that everyday anyway....the popup player does not work for me.....I left it up yesterday for at least an hour and it never connected. Guess I too will have to wait it out..

Thanks for the comments about the pics... :)

Cupper

if the feed out of SA gives you a passowrd pop up just enter anything and hit return do it a couple of times then it usually kicks in. It asks for password sometimes dont know why. anyway hope you can get it working for you cupper. check out the chat during drives sometime ans ask then because there!
Hi Lillie and others,
I realise that the problem of buffering is not only on the western United States, but it does seem to be more common there.
This morning (our time) I changed the stream speed from 500kbps to 300kbps, this should help quite a lot. It will result in a bit more pixelation, particularly in full screen mode, but if it means that more people get a smooth feed it will be worth it.
I am particularly interested in tracking improvements (helps me figure out how far WE have left to go) so if you were having trouble and things are now better please mail us at webmaster@wildearth.tv and tell us where you are and how your stream performance has changed.
I made the change just before the huge buffalo herd arrived at Treehouse dam on the morning drive of the 13th August 2008.
Hope things get better, but I assure you WE will get this right.
Thanks Graham, I have never had an issue with the flash stream since I upgraded my internet package. I hope the changes you have made ensure our american friends get a playable stream as it must be so fustrating for them.
My problem was, that on the package I was on, is meant to be "up to 8MBS", "UP TO" being the important word here, during busy periods ie for me, the afternoon game drive, it used to buffer all the time, morning drives were no problem at all as they start 5:30 am UK time, less inernet users at that time in the morning.
I phoned my ISP and they advised me to run a speed test when I was having trouble with the buffering on the wild earth stream, which I did, I was shocked to notice my speed was just over 512kbs ! at peak times, when I checked the speed at 5 am in the morning it was 6MBS + !
I contacted my ISP again and asked them what I could do to improve the stream, they told me as I was on their most basic package, I would have to upgrade to a faster one, which enables me to obtain speeds of 2MBS+ at peak times, now I have no problem at all with the afternoon drive but it does cost me $10 extra per month, well worth it to have my afternoon drives back and I,ve really noticed the difference in the speed of downloading files.
My problem was not a wild earth issue at all, I thought it was, so I appologise for even thinking it !
I hope all you people out there experiencing problems with the flash stream get a benefit from graham dropping down the speed
has the email function for members been taken off the site? I see email capability for mods etc but not for us anymore?
Hi Lisa,
Are you asking about email or send message capabilities?
I am not sure, but it is possible in the recent upgrades that Ning has done, it could have changed some of the things seen in specific areas.
Being able to contact Admin or Moderators in any area will hopefully always remain an option.
As far as seeing the little "send message" option with each member's comments, I am not able to give you an answer at this time if it was always visible for every one and if no one can see it right now, as I do see things differently from others unfortunately. Do you see this option for any of your friends or for no one with exception of Mods?

I can only see email/message option to mods but not to any of my friends plus the email icon does not appear at the top of the page anymore. basically I have no email anymore. wondering if any other member has this problem or perhaps its the java script with my old browser acting up. everything else is functioning fine.
Hey Lisa, can you post this problem over in the General Questions area

http://wildearth.ning.com/forum/topic/show?id=2094372%3ATopic%3A45303

We'll see what we can find out to help you get your mail options back. :)

Thanks!

Thank you again Graham for bringing us this wonderful adventure !

I am in United States California and have not noticed an improvement on the buffering. Even when the drive is not going... I see animals at the pan and they freeze every few seconds.

I do have the highest speed connection available where I live ( I am told is quite good ) and there is nothing else running on my computer while I am trying to watch Wild Earth.
I just wanted you to know. Today is September 3rd. Is there anything else that may be done in the near future to help us out ? I have never really had this problem before. I have been a lucky one that has been able to watch Wild Earth with hardly any issues.
Thank you so much for your time.
Angie

I don't think its a wild earth problem at all, if it is why can people in other parts of america, europe etc get a perfect feed, I have had problems in the past but it was due to my ISP , I called them and they confirmed this for me.
I loved the 500kbs stream on flash ! but I think this has been dropped now, I,m sure wildearth are trying their best but again I think the problem people are having is not with wild earth, if it is can someone explain it to me, I find it hard to believe when we are all using similar hardware and software and we are all connecting to the same stream, that some people still have problems with the stream "buffering" all the time, I,m sure this is NOT a wildearth issue.
We all use similar hardware but so many of us use a different internet provider don't we ?
But the complaints still come and I feel sympathy for all that are having a bad time with the stream, wildearth have even dropped the speed of the feed to try and help the people who have problems with the stream, what more can they do ?

Hi Angie,
WE are really not sure what has been causing this problem. But there is something that you (and anyone else who experiences buffering problems) can do to help. That is to do a trace route from your PC to our stream server in Holland. What this tells us is exactly what the delays are between you and the stream server.

Here is how you do it: (if you use Windows XP as an operating system)

Open the 'command prompt' in your 'accessories' tab under the 'all programs' tab on the 'start' menu.
Then type: tracert fl1.zaplive.jet-stream.nl
Then highlight the results, click on the top left icon of the window, go to 'edit' and then copy. Then paste the results into your mail client and mail it to webmaster@wildearth.tv don't forget to include your location in the world and a short description of the problems you are experiencing.

This would really help us, and WE are sorry that you are having difficulties.

Graham

Hello Graham,

I sent the stream information to the webmaster. I hope it helps you.

1. When I upload a photo, it appears on Main page as having been posted an hour ago?

2. When I upload a new photo a few minutes after, the first one disappears from Main page and see 1. for posting time?

How can my friends know that I posted photos if they are not on Main page. Those photos added one by one are actuality photos and interest is lost when seen by me on My Page!!!

Thank you in advance.

Claire-M.

OOOPPPPS! the problem is the same on My Page. I can't even laugh of my own jokes on pics!!!

The Mystery of Discipline

Self-discipline is often estimated as an important component to be effective - be it research or profession or personal life. The traditional concept of discipline seems to be deceiving. It is often recognized as something that is associated with a set of firm guidelines, worry, power, exterior management and penalties. The misconception is probably a impact of the unnecessary attempt of most
