A place to ask WE management questions.

Many of you have questions that you would like answered. WE have a way for you to ask the presenters questions by emailing Final Control ([e-mail]) The director chooses which questions to ask and reads them to the presenter. However, sometimes the questions are a little difficult for the presenter to answer or they have nothing to do with what is happening on the screen. This is the place to ask those sorts of questions of the WildEarth management.

I'd love to prove him wrong! LOL Also, it was my impression that it would be out of Graham's hands if it did happen. I KNOW Graham wouldn't charge a fee. This is a very expensive labor of love for him, that's obvious!
It was only a rumor about the German influence.

I am now able to view ZapLive ( FLash )
My problem is like alot of other people.... I am on an opposite time schedule from South Africa. I love watching the drives but, alot of the time I do have to record them on Real Player.
The Flash will not record .When I right click to see what my options are... I hit download video to Real Player and it records about 1 second of video.
Please, tell me there is a way for me to record without having to purchase some other equipment. Tomorrow is the day... we lose WMP . Can someone please respond one way or another about this problem or maybe help direct me where to find the answer ? Thank You

if the company tried to force someone against their will in this case WE to do somthing against their mandate or philosophy as a company I am certain said company would find another service provider itsnot like there is a shortage out there. I agree that Graham should hopefully pop in soon and respond to all you guys but I dont think we should propagate possible future outcomes and cause perhaps unecessary panic or rumour until we know the facts thats all. Graham is very good at responding to emails at Facebook perhaps you should try your questions there or PM him here at WE.

I have asked this question over a week ago in flash/stream forum but, I received no response .

As I understand it a timeshift function is on its way soon! so you can watch drives at your convenience. Im in Canada and the drives are very late for me 12:30 am start time or while I am at work. But I am almost certain this function is forthcoming! Others are able I think to record the drives perhaps in the filmakers group here at WE yo umight find more answers.

Hi Winni,
Yes, there is somebody that sits in our Final Control and controls the two cameras at the Gowrie waterhole, from after the morning drive (about 9AM) until the afternoon drive (4PM). Unfortunately, WE do not yet have somebody controlling the cameras through the night, but we do in a little while.
There is a sort of way to be informed if an animal is on the LIVE stream, by following 'wildearth' on Twitter.com
WE don't tweet every sighting but many of them we do. You can also receive these tweets on your mobile phone.
The idea of a gadget/widget that keeps you updated is a good one, but in the meantime there are many Twitter gadgets and widgets out there that will do the same thing.

I´m asking because it would be very very nice if somebody creating a gadget or starting a chatroom where he writes in if an animal comes to the hole and what kind of animal it is so you don´t have to watch at the screen the whole time and wait for an animal.
I think it would be a very nice service, because if i´m doing something else i´m every time scared to miss an animal:)

Wow, lots of rumors to dispel.

OK, WE will not be charging for access to the stream either in Europe or any other part of the world. WE will however be selling advertising, there obviously does have to be some form of revenue to pay for this service. I won't go into a long justification, I think it is patently obvious to everyone how the media industry works.

There has been difficulty with the Flash stream for some people. Most of the people that have had difficulty appear to have been on the western side of the United States, although there were others elsewhere with issues. After a fairly exhaustive investigation of the issues, we are pretty sure we know what it was.

Basically there has been a 15 to 20 second delay from LIVE on the Windows Media 9 stream. This delay is as a result of a fairly large buffer in the system. On the Flash stream I chose to reduce this buffer to 3 seconds in order to get as close to LIVE as possible. When you take the huge distances across the Internet into account and the fact that the Flash stream is now at 500kbps, this small buffer began to cause the stop/start effect for those not getting an absaloutly clean solid connection to our server all the time. Effectively any Internet congestion would cause trouble. WE have now increased this buffer to 10 seconds and it appears to be doing much better. Your feed back would be appreciated. Hi Graham,
I live in Arkansas State (central U.S.). I am getting the stop, start, freeze effect.

I know you asked to hear from those that are getting a good feed, but I thought you might want to know that the problem is not only in the Western United States.

I have been watching WE for a very long time. I so enjoy the WE crew and the drives. I will be so happy when I can watch again. I miss it!

for all your flash feed problems. sorry but he posted this email in his reply and asked that you direct this kind of stuff there. also the feed out of south africa is still there so you can watch the drives until such time the flash feed improves for you.

I have also found that clearing out my cache files everyday helps alot with the flash and freeze. I live in Toronto, Canada somedays its good and others its bad. Thanks for your comments.....I forwarded an email to the above address...

Cleaning out my cache does nothing as I do that everyday anyway....the popup player does not work for me.....I left it up yesterday for at least an hour and it never connected. Guess I too will have to wait it out..
